The following story was often told:

Bricklayers at  the Hoosier Ordnance Plant in Indiana were placed almost side by side and assigned a course four bricks wide.  It was said that workers often followed one path to get to work at the beginning of their shift but had to take a different path to exit…because a new building was blocking the path they had used in the morning.
